White Area - Covers the South East coastline, either side of Ierapetra and further inland

This coastline differs greatly from the Northern coastline of Crete: Many areas have not been exploited by tourism, and have remained beautiful, quiet retreats, with pebbled beaches ideal for exploration. Immediately West of Ierapetra, there are some areas still dominated by commercial agriculture, but with a little adventure, gorgeous, deserted little bays and beaches can be found. East of Ierapetra, more influenced by tourism, has many beautiful, sandy bays and plenty of holiday accommodation, camping and archaeological sites. Traveling just a few kilometers inland, one can find breath taking canyons and traditional villages with tavernas, usually all with wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea below. Slightly warmer in climate, but often breezy, this area offers many charms for the lovers of the diversity of Crete.
