A traditional village with character, friendly, hospitable people and very nice architecture. High (360 m) above the sea with panoramic views of the Bay of Georgioupolis to Rethimno and the White Mountains. A few tavernas, mini-market, cafes, and pretty but small accessible beach cove taverna 3,5 kilometres away. Daily bus service to Hania town. There is a Bank, Post Office, shops, cafes, more tavernas and a Health Centre five minutes away in Vamos Village. Other surrounding villages; Almerida, Kalives, Georgioupolis and Gavalohori provide a selection of sandy beaches, shops,traditional "taverns" and a museum. Less than 40 minutes to Hania airport and 15 minutes to The National Road linking most major towns on the North Coast of the Island.
Kefalas is one of the most picturesque villages of the Apokoronas region. Over the last years, it has become a sought-after location for property buyers from Northern Europe, but nonetheless. Nearby (5 min), lies the village of Vamos, which is the 'capital' of the region and hosts a Bank, Post Office, some shops, cafes, more tavernas and even a Health Centre [offering 24 hour Medical Facilities]. The seaside village of Almerida (10 min), Kalives, (15 min) and Georgioupoulis (15 min) provide a selection of sandy beaches, shops and traditional "taverns".
