Below Ahladia and the village of Skopi on the other side, hidden away in the green and verdant valley and set beside the ancient Spring of Lapsanari, is the very old village of Kimouriotis which until recently was full of deserted ruins, but in the last few years the owners have seen fit to renovate most of these old stone houses and once again this pretty settlement is inhabited. Just thirty houses and a local church surrounded by fertile gardens and a stream that runs down the hill from the spring, this village is shady due to the large trees and generally very quiet except on its festival days and high holidays. Above and behind the village, high on the plateau of Plativola, one of the largest wind farms has been built providing eco friendly electricity for this part of Crete.
