Kroustas is a small rural village just 13 kms from Agios Nikolaos (15 mins in the car), just 4 kms above Kritsa. The village is elevated in location and has approx. 350 inhabitants, with a primary school, mini market, cigarette kiosk, plenty of kafenions and tavernas. As is normal in these villages, merchants arrive daily in their vans selling various wares. The village is on the boundaries one of the few remaining forested areas in the East of Crete, with beautiful rambles through the pine forests it`s an ideal location for nature and outdoor lovers. Due to it`s slightly higher altitude, the area tends to be a degree or two cooler, more noticable in the Winter, and can experience snow fall occasionally. However, the village is pretty with magnificent views down towards the Bay of Mirabello.
