The village of Milos is situated approximately 270 meters above sea level and 7 kilometers from the centre of Rethymnon town. There are two residential areas to this village, namely the 'Old' and the 'New'
part of this village. The graphic part of the old village was built on one of its lowest points on the side of the Vrissino mountains range where the flow of the river below, established this settlement. There is evidence still today the engineering and some old mills utilised in the past to absorb the water from this river for irrigation in the immediate area. Due to the subsidence of the ground level in the old village area, the new part of town was established, where the residents with aid created this new village. The old part of the village has many visitors throughout the year, to walk the gorge and enjoy the natural environment that leads into the town of Rethymnon.
