Mochlos is a small shore side village with great fish tavernas right off the beaten track down a curly road off the road running between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia – it is an hour and a half from the airport. Unspoiled area, mostly Cretan inhabitants. On the main road above Mochlos is Sfaka a vibrant, busy Cretan village with all shops and amenities and a good bus service running between Sitia, Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion. 35 kms from Sitia. With Mochlos the settlement on the small island of Psira formed an important Minoan hub, at the west side of the island tombs and mansions of aristocratic families were discovered.
